Hanging Around the House

Small projects are a great way to try out designs and practice new techniques. A lot of my test projects have ended up around our house, from mug rugs to wall hangings. I got interested in mola reverse applique and sashiko embroidery when we lived in Costa Rica, so this gallery contains a lot of practice pieces with tropical flowers and birds. Since then I have devoted more time to larger quilts.  But under the New Mexico sun I am starting to make fabric cyanotypes using dried natural materials collected on our travels. I guess another name for “around the house” is “experiments.”
